When the RCORE Bylaws were established Article IV. Section 5 was written to exclude any RCORE Board member from serving on the City Council.  In previous Bylaw changes this language was expanded to include city boards and commissions.  In careful review of the various boards and commissions of the city it has been determined that excluding RCORE members from serving the city on a board or commission is a disservice to our membership and the community.  There appears to be no inherent conflict of interest between RCORE and the various boards and commissions of the city, and, should an issue arise that might pose a conflict, the member would be able to recuse themselves from a vote.  Being active members within city government expands our collaboration with the city, which is one of RCORE’s goals.  This minor amendment to the RCORE Bylaws will be discussed at the October 19, 2023 General Membership meeting prior to voting for approval.
